Accused escapes from court during load shedding, caught by crowd
Accused Riazul Islam (25), who escaped from the dock of the Narsingdi court during load shedding, has been arrested in Shibpur with the help of the public. At that time, he was handed over to the court police with the help of Shibpur police station. He was arrested from the Srishtigarh area of Baghab union in Shibpur upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, Riazul escaped from the court of Judicial Magistrate Rubayet Akhter Shifa of the Narsingdi District Court on Monday afternoon. He is the son of Dana Mia of Baluakandi village in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi.
According to court sources, police arrested Riazul on July 7 in an auto-rickshaw theft case in Raipura. He escaped from the dock when there was a sudden power outage during the hearing of the case around 12:30 pm on Monday. Although a raid was immediately conducted in the court premises and its surroundings, he could not be caught.
Police said that Riazul got off a bus at the Srishtigarh bus stand on Wednesday afternoon. At that time, some locals recognized him and wanted to know where he was going. They knew about his escape from the court. Later, he was caught by a tactic and informed the Shibpur police station. The police went and took him into custody.
Narsingdi Court Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Sairul Islam said that Riazul was taken to the Narsingdi Model Police Station in the afternoon after his arrest. A new case has been filed against him for escaping from the court. He will be produced in court again today, Thursday.
