That is why there was a 17-year movement, which was manifested on August 5. Abu Sayeed, Mughd or Wasims gave their blood or our Chowdhury Alam or Ilias Alis were lost not only for the local elections, but to give democracy back to the people of the country. We must have respect for that blood.
Today, Sunday at 3:30 pm, a tree plantation program was held at the Hakimpur Upazila Parishad auditorium in Dinajpur at the initiative of the BNP’s upazila and municipal branches. AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the national standing committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the event. Hakimpur Upazila BNP President Ferdous Rahman presided over the event.

Abu Sayeed, Mughd or Wasims gave their blood or our Chowdhury Alam or Ilias Alis lost their lives not just for the local elections, but to give back democracy to the people of the country. Zahid Hossain said in his speech, ‘I would like to tell those who criticize BNP today, instead of criticizing, unite. Because, a united nation was able to be created on August 5, 2024. If there is discord, then remember that group of looters, they are only two-four-ten people who have fled. But they are around you. So, do not try to give way or loopholes to the friends of dictatorship. What are those who today talk about local elections by pushing the national election away? Do you want the law and order situation to deteriorate further?’
Zahid Hossain said, ‘BNP is a future-oriented political party. How far-reaching our leader Tarique Rahman has thought. The founder of the party, Ziaur Rahman, gave a 19-point program. National leader Khaleda Zia gave a Dalbhat program. Above all, Vision 2030. Tarique Rahman is their worthy son, the acting chairman of BNP.’
