Today, Friday, after the Friday prayers, Abdul Quader, the VP (vice president) candidate of the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Union Panel, and Abu Sadiq Kayem, the VP candidate of the Chhatrashibir-supported ‘Unified Students’ Alliance’, started campaigning. The two were seen distributing leaflets and exchanging greetings with the students. Later, both of them spoke to reporters. Alleging online bullying, personal attacks and abuse, Abdul Quader said that before August 5, people used to be beaten offline for holding different opinions. They used to be directly attacked, people used to be beaten up. But now bullying is happening online. Online abuse in dirty language causes more havoc than raising hands.

Abdul Quader, the VP candidate for DUCSU elections, said, ‘This is not happening only in my case. This is happening to everyone who holds a different opinion. At one point, I felt like I was a little broken.’ At that time, Abdul Quader said, ‘Finally, our struggle is going to have a momentum. Since 2019, we have been protesting for the demands of the students at various times. We have worked on how to uphold the interests of the students.’

Abdul Quader said, ‘It seems like our dream is coming true. Our women will be able to roam the campus without fear. We hope that no one else like Samyor (Sir AF Rahman Hall Branch Chhatra Dal Literature and Publications Editor Shahriar Alam Samyor) has to give their lives on the campus. The campus will not become a hangout for vagrants.’

Urging the students to vote, Abdul Quader said, ‘You should not turn your back on DUCSU. The dream that was supposed to be realized after the mass uprising is going to be realized after a long year. Elect your representative.’

Earlier, Abu Sadiq Kayem, VP candidate of the United Students Alliance, told reporters that the goal of the United Students Alliance is to ensure fair rights of students. Even though the university has crossed a century, many fundamental problems remain due to the lack of an effective plan. If he wins, the housing crisis and other problems will be solved through a long-term roadmap.

Abu Sadiq Kayem also said that initiatives will be taken to improve the quality of food in the halls, ensure transparency in pricing, and introduce a meal voucher system so that students get affordable and quality food.

In addition, if he wins the election, Abu Sadiq Kayem, VP candidate of the United Students Alliance, announced that separate housing will be arranged for female students who did not get seats.
