A lawyer was killed in a bus accident on the way to court.

In Kushtia, a female lawyer was killed in a collision between a passenger bus and an auto-rickshaw. The driver was also injured. This accident occurred at around nine o’clock this morning at the intersection of the Upazila road on the Kushtia-Jhinaidah highway.

The name of the deceased woman is Dabora Khanam (29). She was a member of the Kushtia District Bar Association and the wife of Riazul Saleheen from the Roxigali area of the city.

According to police and local sources, Dabora was heading towards the court in the auto-rickshaw. When they reached the intersection of the Upazila road, a passenger bus of Shyamoli Paribahan crashed into the back of it. As a result, Dabora Khanam and the driver Khairul Islam were seriously injured. Later, a few local residents rescued them and took them to Kushtia 250-bed general hospital. There, the doctor declared Dabora dead. In this incident, the bus driver’s colleagues have demanded exemplary punishment for him.

The residential medical officer (RMO) of the hospital, Hosen Imam, stated that the lawyer had died before being taken there. The injured driver is being treated.

The deceased’s relative, Zulkar Nain, stated that Dabora was going to court like any other day. He got married 6 to 7 months ago.

The officer in charge (OC) Mosharraf Hossain of Kushtia Model Police Station stated that legal action is underway in this regard.
