Four banned Chhatra League activists arrested with explosives, domestic weapons: Police
Mirpur Model Police Station has announced the arrest of four activists of the banned Chhatra League in the capital along with explosives and domestic weapons. They were arrested from DC Road next to the Directorate of Primary Education in Mirpur-2 area on Friday afternoon.

Deputy Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muhammad Talebur Rahman gave this information in a press release on Saturday.
The arrested persons are Md. Shukkar (19), Md. Jihad (19), Rahim (19) and Sumon (18). A case has been filed against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The police said that the operation is continuing to catch the remaining absconding accused.
Two fresh cocktails, an iron chapati, two knives, a da, a steel pipe, a motorcycle chain and a chain sprocket or chain wheel have been recovered from the arrested persons.
According to sources at Mirpur Police Station, some leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League brought people from the slum area in exchange for money to create sabotage and riots at a procession of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal yesterday. A team from Mirpur Model Police Station reached there after receiving information that they had gathered in the area around the Primary Education Department of Mirpur-2 area. While others fled after sensing the presence of the police, Shukkar, Jihad, Rahim and Sumon were arrested. In a press release, the police said that during initial interrogation, the arrested persons confessed to being involved with the Chhatra League. The police also said that they were planning to hold a counter-protest to sabotage the procession organized to demand the trial of the fascist government.
