In the meantime, two more children were born to them one after another.
The children are all adults now. Since childhood, they have never seen their father speak to their mother for so many years. Day after day, their father does not answer anything their mother says. Even though Otue did not speak to his wife, he would speak to his children naturally. Meanwhile, Yumi spent all her time day and night managing her three children and the family. Even though she did not get any answers from her husband, Yumi would talk to herself. Even though he did not speak, Otuye would nod his head to indicate ‘yes’ or ‘no’ when Yumi asked him something. Otuye spent 20 years with his wife without saying a word. The news of this arrogant husband in Japan came to light in 2016. Yoshiki Katayama, the 18-year-old son of Otuye and Yumi, wrote to a show on a Japanese TV channel in Hokkaido about his parents’ situation. He requested that something be done to improve the relationship between his parents. The authorities of the television show took into account the request of a viewer. They spoke to everyone in his family except Otuye. The channel made a video message about Yumi for Otuye. In the message, Yumi said, ‘How old are you, what is your favorite food, what is your favorite color? I know all this. I want to tell you my feelings. I want to talk to you privately. I am waiting in Nara Park, will you come?’ This video was sent to Otuye.
