Bank official loses crores of taka in 10 days after investing online in hopes of extra income
Salary is fixed in jobs. That is why many people look for ways to earn extra income along with their jobs. A bank official from Old Dhaka also invested online in the hope of getting a little more wealth. Not 5 to 10 thousand taka; he invested 1 crore 10 lakh taka in a span of 10 days. The fraudsters made off with that money.

The victim bank official filed a case against the unknown fraudsters at Lalbagh Police Station on May 21. According to him, he started working on the so-called ‘Upwork Front Desk-2023′ in December last year in the hope of additional income along with his job. Initially, he earned a few thousand taka from that platform for a few days. At one stage, he was tempted to become a partner of the so-called Upwork. Falling into that trap, he took a loan from his family members and the bank and deposited one crore taka in the bank account given by the so-called directors of that platform. Later, when he received the partnership paper, he found that it was fake. The fraudsters’ mobile phones were switched off. The bank official became extremely disappointed after losing a huge amount of money. He remained under house arrest for a few days. His wife, parents and relatives stood by him. He started a normal life again. He filed a case against the fraudsters.
In this regard, the bank official told Prothom Alo, ‘I have made a big mistake in my life. I have never worked on any online platform before. Later, I started working after receiving a message on WhatsApp. I fell into the trap of digital fraudsters and invested more than one crore taka with my savings and loans.’

The bank officer is 36 years old. Born and raised in Old Dhaka. After graduating in business education, he joined a private bank a few years ago. His current workplace is in Old Dhaka.
