ANM Mofakhkharul Islam said that the question papers are supposed to be stored in the police station vault or Malkhana. But keeping them in custody and having the accused there is in no way acceptable. The police will have to explain this.

Immediately after the incident, the Sub-Inspector (SI) and a constable in charge of the police station-jail were withdrawn and attached to the police line.

According to district administration sources, on Tuesday night, an accused in the custody of Dhamirhat Police Station lifted the seal of the trunk and opened the lock. Then, he took out the question papers packed inside the trunk, spread them out and tore some of them.

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shafiul Sarwar said that the trunk of the question papers was sealed and locked. The accused had one handcuffed, but the other hand was open. He opened the seal with his fingernails and opened the lock. Then he spread the question papers and tore some of them. This was seen in the CCTV footage.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of the district administration Sadia Afreen said that there were 50 question papers in the packet. All of them have been recovered. Although some were torn, no question papers were lost.

Two separate committees have been formed by the district administration and the district police to investigate the incident. In addition, a team from the Rajshahi Education Board visited the scene on Thursday.

A new case has been filed against the accused in this incident on charges of destruction of government property. He has been sent to jail through the court.

The Rajshahi Board said that the History Second Paper exam to be held on July 19 will be conducted in eight districts of the division with alternative question papers. The HSC exam will start on June 26.
