Tendulkar watches India’s 3-1 win in England series
This time it will be difficult for India to bet. Cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin are not in the team. Cheteshwar Pujara, Rahane are also not there. After 13 years, India will enter the Test without Pujara-Kohli-Rohit-Rahane-Ashwin. This means that the team is going to start a new era.
Tendulkar watches India’s 3-1 win in England series
Nevertheless, legendary Sachin Tendulkar is watching India’s victory in the five-match Test series on England soil by 3-1. He said this in an interview given to cricket portal ESPNCricinfo on Thursday. Sachin, the highest run-getter in international cricket, played an important role in India’s last series win in England in 2007 under the leadership of Rahul Dravid. This time, Shubman Gill is leading. Tendulkar is optimistic about his team. The legend said about India’s victory, “I have kept the series result in favor of India at 3-1.” Just like Sachin’s bet on India, two former England cricketers Nasser Hussain and Graeme Swann also have bets on England. Nasser sees England winning this series 3-1 and Swann 4-1. India will play this five-Test series under the leadership of Shubman Gill. Gill became the captain of the Indian Test team at the age of just 24. He was officially announced as the new Test captain by the BCCI on May 24.
Tendulkar advised the new captain Gill, “My advice would be – there is no need to think about what outsiders are saying. Shubman is not aggressive, not defensive, not active enough – these are just opinions. The opinions of people outside these teams. What he thinks is whether what is discussed in the dressing room is being implemented on the field or not. Whether the decisions are being taken keeping the interests of the team in mind or not – that is important.”
