Bashundhara Kings and Mohammedan in the same group.

News Desk:

In the Federation Cup football, Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Mohammedan have fallen into the same group. The draw was held yesterday under the management of the Professional League Committee. The current champion Kings are placed in Group ‘B’. Their opponents are Dhaka Mohammedan, Fortis FC, Police FC, and Arambagh Club. In Group ‘A’, Dhaka Abahani, Brothers Union, Rahmatganj, Youngmen’s Fakirerpul, and newcomer PUWDC will play. Comparing both groups, Group ‘B’ can be referred to as the death group. In terms of strength, Kings will be identified as the top favorites. It can be said that they are likely to advance to the knockout stage after passing the group phase. Among the other teams, there will be a fierce battle between Mohammedan, Police, and Fortis. Again, the former tournament runners-up Arambagh, which has recently returned to the professional league, should not be underestimated.

After winning the Federation Cup a record 12 times, Abahani should have no problem playing in the next round. They have drawn a relatively easier opponent. The chances of playing against Fakirerpool or newcomer PWDI in the qualifiers can be considered slim. Any two teams among Abahani, Brothers, and Rahmatganj have a higher probability of qualifying. Just like last season, the two champions of the group stage will face each other in the final match. The two runner-up teams will compete in the qualifiers. The winners will face the two group champions from the losing teams. The winning team will secure a place in the final. Last time, Mohammedan was eliminated after the group stage. Kings and Abahani played in the final. This time, there remains a concern for the second most successful team in the Federation Cup, with 11 championships. Kings are already there, and either Police or Fortis could stand in their way. The draw for the Federation Cup was held yesterday at the BFF Bhaban under the chairmanship of BFF Senior Vice President and Professional League Management Committee Chairman Imrul Hasan. The season will kick off with Group B matches on September 23. The final will take place on April 10. Every Tuesday of the week, Kings Arena and Comilla Dhirend.
