Harbhajan in the running for BCCI president

Harbhajan Singh can be seen as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He will attend the annual general meeting of the board as a representative of the Punjab Cricket Association. He will also be accompanied by Sourav Ganguly, who will be in the meeting as a representative of Bengal. Elections will be held for five important positions of the board in that meeting.

Elections for the Apex Council of the board and the IPL Governing Council will be held on that day. Elections will be held for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and treasurer. One person from the general body will be taken to the Apex Council and two from the general body will be taken to the IPL Governing Council.

Harbhajan is a Rajya Sabha MP. He has already been elected as an advisor to the Punjab Cricket Association. This is the first time he will represent the state organization. He may be elected to any position in the board. As a result, there is a possibility of seeing him as a board official.

It remains to be seen whether a former cricketer will be seen as the board president again. Roger Binny handled this responsibility after Sourav.

According to the news of ‘Indian Express’, the board has contacted many former cricketers. None of them agreed. Formal elections of the board are not held for a long time. The members choose the office bearers by talking among themselves. Source: Anandabazar
