My journey does not end here, I will fulfill what was in the manifesto: Abidul

Desk Report,

My journey does not end here, I will fulfill what was in the manifesto: Abidul

Abidul Islam Khan, the vice-president (VP) candidate of Chhatra Dal in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, has said that he will try to fulfill what was in his manifesto in the elections. His journey has not ended here. Along with his limitations, a new beginning of student politics will be in their hands.

My journey does not end here, I will fulfill what was in the manifesto: Abidul

He said these words in a post on his verified Facebook account today, Wednesday, at around 3:30 pm. Abidul Islam lost to Shibir’s candidate Sadiq Qayem in the DUCSU elections on Tuesday. In a Facebook post on the night of the election, he rejected the results, calling them rigged and the election a farce. It is worth noting that Shibir’s panel United Students’ Alliance won all three posts – DUCSU Vice-President (VP), General Secretary (GS) and Assistant General Secretary (AGS). Shibir’s candidate Md. Abu Sadiq Qayem won the VP post with 14,042 votes. His nearest rival, Chhatra Dal’s Abidul Islam Khan, got 5,708 votes.

This afternoon, Abidul Islam wrote in a post, ‘I never thought I would come this far in my short life. The night before the election, Khaled Muhiuddin Bhai asked me, where do I want to see myself after 5 years? I couldn’t give a good answer. I never really knew where to see myself, where I should see myself. One movement and struggle after another came, I put myself on the streets. That path has brought me this far today. It’s okay. My day in this election started with media propaganda. Since noon, I have found one problem after another in different places during the vote, I have talked about them all day. I still hope that a fair investigation and appropriate decision will be made by the administration on all these complaints.’

Abid wrote, ‘As human beings, none of us are perfect. I know that I have not been able to do enough for you. Honestly, life has not even given me that opportunity. I sincerely thank all the student brothers and sisters of Dhaka University for coming to vote. “In just 20 days of campaign, I tried to reach every student of Dhaka University. I got a lot closer, but I may not have been able to touch everyone. But I want to assure you, my journey does not end here, my journey is much longer.”
