Former VP Nurul congratulates winners of DUCSU elections
Nurul Haque expressed this reaction in a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon. He wrote, “Heartiest greetings and congratulations to all the student friends who won and participated in the historic DUCSU and Hall Parliament elections after the July mass uprising. At the same time, I would like to thank the Dhaka University administration who faced various adverse situations with great patience, strategy and skill and completed a very lively, participatory and successful election.” The former DUCSU VP expressed hope that the leaders of DUCSU and Hall Parliament will embrace the spirit of the July mass uprising and open a new horizon in student politics with student organizations. He said, “Student politics will be free from the black clutches of national politics and for the welfare of students and the nation. The campus will be a place of pilgrimage for students’ studies and research, songs and poetry, chats and friendship, literature and culture, and the practice of democratic values.’
Nurul Haque called on the university administration and newly elected leaders to take the initiative to make the DUCSU and Hall Parliament elections a calendar event like other academic activities.
