Pedestrian injured in gunfire targeting businessman in Sabujbagh
A security guard named Monir Hossain (46) was injured in a shooting by miscreants in Baigdia Nuner Tek area of Sabujbagh in the capital. The incident took place on Sunday evening. Police say the shooting incident occurred due to a dispute over business. A pedestrian was shot in the process.

Police sources said that the injured Monir Hossain lives in Dakshin Goran area of Khilgaon. He is a security guard by profession. Monir was brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by Saidul Islam, a resident of the same area. He said that Monir went to Baigdia area with some people in the afternoon to take a bath. On his way back from there, some unidentified persons on a motorcycle opened fire. He was shot in the waist.
Saidul further said that there was a commotion near the spot at that time. Monir was first taken to a local hospital and later to Mugda General Hospital in a seriously injured condition. Later, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 9:30 pm.
Demra Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudur Rahman told Prothom Alo that shots were fired at a dredger businessman named Jahangir. He jumped into the water to save his life. Then the bullet hit security guard Monir. The OC said that six people have been identified in the incident. Efforts are underway to arrest them.
