Protector or devourer? The mystery of Nisho’s ‘Aka’
Afran Nisho is returning to OTT after almost three years. ‘Aka’ will soon be released on the OTT platform. The half-look poster of the thriller series was released yesterday. Nisho is seen in two different looks in the poster. Half of his face is covered in both the films. That is why the makers are calling this look ‘half look’. The caption of the poster reads, ‘Who is coming? Hero or villain? Protector or devourer? You will know soon.’ Masuma Rahman Nabila is also playing a major role in the series with Nisho. This is the first time she is playing a major role in a web series. Vicky Zahed is in charge of directing.

Director Vicky said about the series, ‘I have made various types of thrillers, this is also a thriller; but this is the first time I have wanted to give a social message in the guise of a thriller. You can call it a social thriller. I am experimenting with new types. How it is received after its release will be understood.’
The Vicky-Nisho duo has previously worked together in popular projects like ‘Punarjanma’, ‘Bhuljanma’, ‘Chirkal Aaj’, ‘Redram’. Referring to that, Vicky further said, ‘(Afran) Nisho bhai has a long experience of working with him. This is the first time I am working together in a series. Working with him is always something special. Nabila has also been very helpful. This is an important project for all of us.’
Yesterday afternoon, Vicky told Prothom Alo that this is one of the most challenging projects he has done. It took him about six months to complete ‘Aka’, which is his longest-running work. But why did it take so long? ‘Nisho bhai and I worked together after a long time, so there was a pressure of expectation. I wanted the audience not to be disappointed in any way, so the effort was more. I want to surprise them with the story, production, everything. It was supposed to be released this month, but we wanted them to be completely satisfied,’ said Vicky. ‘Aka’ is a thriller series. So the director did not want to give a hint about the story. He only said that it shows a complex story of justice and injustice, revenge and revenge, mystery and thrill. Nisho has been seen in various roles in Vicky’s work. The director does not want to reveal what role he will be seen in this time. He said that it will not happen, but why is the series called Aka? ‘If you say that, a lot will be said. In some places, Aka is used to kill demons and in other places, Aka also refers to someone’s short name. To know what Aka is in this series, the audience will have to wait until the release,’ said Vicky.
