A leader of Jamaat’s affiliate Peshajibi Parishad has been arrested on charges of trespassing into a police station, obstructing government work and making threats. He was arrested from Jessore town on Wednesday morning.

The arrested lawyer, Aziyar Rahman, is the president of Keshabpur Upazila Peshajibi Parishad. He is the former president of Jessore District East Branch of Chhatra Shibir. Ameer of Keshabpur Municipality Jamaat, Zakir Hossain, confirmed this information. Last Sunday, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Keshabpur Police Station Maklesur Rahman filed a case against Aziyar Rahman at the police station. He was arrested this morning and sent to court in that case.
SI Maklesur Rahman said that Aziyar Rahman’s cousin Shahidul Islam was a plaintiff in a case. Aziyar was angry about why he (Shahidul) was made an accused in that case. He was arrested for trespassing into a police station, making threats and obstructing government work.
Meanwhile, a video of a man entering the police station and threatening the police has gone viral on social media. In it, Aziyar Rahman is seen threatening the police officer by calling him an Awami League ally. At that time, he said, ‘You are conducting activities sitting on that chair as an Awami League member.’ Then the police officer said, ‘Why should I do politics?’
In this regard, Amir of Keshabpur Municipal Jamaat Zakir Hossain said that the incident of entering the police station and threatening him was a mistake on his part (Aziyar Rahman).
