Former mayor Ivy granted two-day remand in Narayanganj murder case
The court has granted a two-day remand to former City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in the murder case of worker Sajal Mia (20) in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj during the July mass uprising. In addition, she has been shown arrested in the attempt to murder case of Fatullah Police Station.
Former mayor Ivy granted two-day remand in Narayanganj murder case
Today, Wednesday at 10:30 am, after a hearing in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Narayanganj, Judge Moinuddin Kadir, Selina Hayat was granted a two-day remand. Selina Hayat participated in the hearing by connecting virtually from Kashimpur Women’s Jail in Gazipur. Qayum Khan told Prothom Alo that the court has granted a two-day remand to Ivy in the murder case. Ivy has been shown arrested in another attempt to murder case of Fatullah Model Police Station.
Selina Hayat’s lawyer Awlad Hossain told Prothom Alo, “There are no specific allegations against her in the complaint except for the name being listed. Who fired the shots, under whose leadership the shootings were carried out—these are stated in the complaint. She was involved in this case only to harass and because of hostility towards the opponent. We have been deprived of justice since the remand was granted and bail was denied.”
