Weapons and ammunition recovered from Gohin Pahar in Teknaf

1 Uzi firearm, 2 single-barrel guns, 4 grenades and 10 bullets have been recovered from the Gohin hill in Hnila, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. These were recovered in a joint operation by RAB and BGB on Tuesday evening. However, no one was arrested in the incident.

The BGB said that two special patrol teams of BGB and RAB conducted the operation after receiving information that four robbers had set up a hideout in the hill. However, the robbers fled after sensing the presence of the joint forces. Later, these weapons and bullets were recovered during a search of the hideout. When asked, Ukhia-64 BGB commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin told Prothom Alo that the recovered firearms and bullets have been submitted to Teknaf Model Police Station as evidence. Necessary measures have also been taken to destroy the grenades.

BGB sources said that during a search by the BGB, the firearm wrapped in a red cloth was found under the seat of the battery-powered easy bike. At one stage of interrogation, the driver Nurul Absar admitted that it was his. He said that he was taking it to Ukhia for the purpose of selling. When asked, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, commander of Ukhia-64 BGB Battalion, said that the recovered firearm and easy bike have been handed over to Ukhia Police Station.
