Air Commodore Shahidul Islam of the Bangladesh Air Force has said that it is essential to have a fighter air base in Dhaka to ensure the air defense and security of the capital.

Shahidul Islam said this at a press conference organized at the old PSC building of the Aviation University in Tejgaon on Monday afternoon.
Stating that the fighter air training base will not be moved from Dhaka, Shahidul Islam said that a large area is required to operate fighter aircraft. Besides, this base is also very important to ensure the air defense of the capital. There are such bases in the capitals of many countries of the world. Air Commodore Md. Mizanur Rahman of the Air Force’s Emergency Coordination Center read out a written statement at the press conference. He said that the Air Force will stand by the families of those killed and injured in this accident. Maximum assistance will be provided as needed.
When asked whether the pilot was in contact with air traffic control at the time of the accident, Mizanur Rahman said that a high-level investigation committee has been formed in this regard. The committee will investigate the matter and present detailed information. However, he said that he was in contact with the pilot Taukir until the last moment.
Jahangir Alam, principal of Milestone School and College, was present at the press conference. He said that out of 738 students, 538 were present in the school on the day of the incident. When asked about the grill on the ground floor, he said, “The whole place was once low. Later, the ground was raised by pouring sand. Before that, the grill was installed on the ground floor of the building, keeping in mind the safety of the children.”
The principal also said that it has not yet been decided when the school will reopen. However, there is a plan to open it as soon as possible.
