Cracks in the embankments of the Muhuri and Silonia rivers in Feni, rural roads are collapsing
Four days of continuous Cracks in the embankments heavy rains in Feni and the water from the hill slopes coming from India have increased the water level in the Muhuri-Kahua-Silonia rivers. The water level of the Muhuri river is flowing close to the danger level. On Sunday afternoon, the water level of the Muhuri river was flowing at 12.10 meters. The danger level of the river is 13 meters. The continuous rains have caused the soil of the embankment to move and cracks have appeared in some parts of the Muhuri and Silonia rivers. The rural road of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is collapsing. Thousands of residents of the riverbanks are in fear of flooding.

It was learned from to local residents that cracks have appeared in the embankment of the Muhuri river in Dakshin Bariya of Darbarpur union of Fulgazi upazila and in a part of the Silonia river in Khilpara of Anandapur union due to continuous heavy rains. This has put thousands of residents of several villages in the Dakshin Bariya, Jagatpur of Darbarpur Union and Khilpara, Bandua, Daulatpur, Hasanpur of Anandpur Union, including several villages in the Dakshin Anandpur area, near the dam, at risk.
Cracks and landslides were seen in the embankment of the Muhuri River in Dakshin Bariya of Darbarpur Union. It has become even bigger by this afternoon.
Officials of the Water Development Board visited the site this morning after receiving information about the crack in the embankment. Deputy Assistant Engineer of PAUBO Fulgazi Branch Md. Fahaddis Hossain said that the crack that has appeared in the Silonia embankment in the Khilpara area of Anandpur Union will have to be repaired by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). This is because the river bank retaining wall and the road were built by LGED. In addition, the crack in the embankment of the Muhuri River adjacent to the southern border of Darbarpur Union will not be able to be repaired unless the river water recedes.
