We will not allow Bangladesh to be governed by the old system: Nahid Islam
Nahid Islam said this at a road meeting organized at the old collectorate ground in Moktarpara area of Netrokona town on Sunday afternoon as part of the NCP’s ‘July March to Build the Nation’ program.
Nahid Islam said, “There are various problems in Netrokona. There is a lack of employment, including the poor state of education and health. We, the NCP, want to eliminate these problems. We are demanding nationwide reforms. We are demanding a new constitution for which we will need a Constituent Assembly election. Through the Constituent Assembly elections, the common people of Bangladesh, the uprising masses of Bangladesh will determine the new constitution of Bangladesh for the future.’
The NCP convener said, Sheikh Hasina was overthrown from Bangladesh by sacrificing her life exactly one year ago in July. Sheikh Hasina and the leaders of the Awami League who were involved in the genocide must be brought to justice.
Nahid Islam further said, ‘We are going to every district to talk about the dream with which the young people took to the streets in the July mass uprising, the dream and aspirations for which the martyred brothers gave their lives. We think that the July mass uprising is the biggest event in the political history of Bangladesh after independence. The young and common people took to the streets against the fascist government that tortured the people, disappeared and murdered the leaders and activists of the opposition party, and took away the rights of the people. One of the main demands of this mass uprising was to bring to justice the fascist government and its forces that have tortured people, committed countless massacres, and looted people’s money in the past 16 years. In addition to demanding the trial of Awami League terrorists, we have taken to the streets demanding nationwide reforms and a new constitution.’
The NCP convener said, ‘Our National Citizen Party has been formed for the youth. We want to empower the youth and give a beautiful Bangladesh to people of all classes and ages in Bangladesh. The youth have come here to take responsibility. Those who are senior will take our guardianship. They will advise the National Citizen Party. The National Citizen Party will work to establish the rights and dignity of the common man. The struggle that has begun against Mujibism and Indian hegemony will continue.’
NCP Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasneem Zara, NCP Central Organizer (Northern Region) Pritam Sohag, Central Member Fahim Khan Pathan and others spoke at the roadshow. Chief Organizer (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam and others were present at the event but did not speak.
