Youth arrested with pistol and bullets snatched from contractor in Rampura
Police have arrested a young man named Yasin Patwari (24) for snatching a licensed pistol and bullets from a businessman in the capital’s Rampura area. He was arrested in a raid in the Paschimpara Ashkona area of Dakshinkhan police station in the capital on Thursday night. A pistol, a magazine and 11 rounds of bullets were recovered from him. A press release from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said on Friday that Md. Amirul Islam is a contractor by profession. He was returning to his home in Banasree in the capital after overseeing his ongoing project in Narsingdi district. On July 21, at around 1:30 am, he asked his personal driver to stop the car in front of Abeesh Hotel on the Banasree main road. After getting out of the car, he felt sick and sat down, so his driver and an unidentified young man next to him caught him and lifted him into the car. The young man also got into the car. Later, when the car carrying Amirul reached the house of Amirul Islam in Banasree Tower, he got out of the car and asked the young man to get down. At that time, the young man introduced himself as Yasin. Then Amirul thanked him and asked him to leave. But at one stage of various conversations, the young man named Yasin suddenly forcibly snatched the licensed pistol (with 11 rounds of bullets) from Amirul’s hand and ran away. Amirul Islam filed a case with Rampura Police Station in this incident.
