The body of Afsana Priya (30), a mother who went missing while picking up her son from school after a fighter jet crashed at Milestone School and College in Uttara in the capital, has been found. Her identity was confirmed on Thursday afternoon after a DNA test.

Her son, Afsan Ohi (9), a third-grade student, returned unharmed, but Afsana Priya had been missing since that day. The deceased Afsana Priya is the wife of businessman Abdul Wahab Mridha of Mediashulai area of Chapair union in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur. Relatives of the deceased Afsana said that Afsan Ohi was a third-grade student at Milestone School and College in Uttara. His mother Afsana Priya went to school with her son as usual last Monday morning. She was staying in the guardians’ room after going to the classroom. Suddenly, an Air Force fighter jet crashed into the school grounds. A building of Milestone School caught fire due to the fire from the crashed plane. At that time, the parents ran to save their children. At one stage, Afsan Wah was found healthy, but his mother could not be found.

Dulal Mridha, the brother-in-law of the deceased Afsana, said that after receiving the news, they searched a lot at various hospitals including the incident site. But she was not found. After receiving the news in the afternoon, they left for CMH Hospital to bring the body. Afsana’s uncle Tajul Islam said, “The plane crashed right on top of my niece Afsana. Her body was shattered. That’s why it was not clear whose body it was.” Afsana’s father Abbas Uddin and mother Minu Begum were taken to CMH Hospital in Dhaka last Tuesday for samples to be collected. Later, the body was identified through DNA testing. After receiving the news of the body’s identification, they went to bring the body this afternoon.
