BCB ticket sales proceeds will go to the plane crash and July Memorial Foundation
In this symbolic initiative of solidarity and remembrance, the BCB will spend the money from the ticket sales on two fronts. One is to support the families of those killed and injured in the recent tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka. The other is to support the ‘July Shahid Smriti Foundation’, formed to support the families of those martyred and injured in the July 2024 mass uprising. BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul said, ‘Cricket is more than a game in Bangladesh. In this time of grief and remembrance, we need to stand together as a community. BCB feels good to be able to make a small contribution to the victims of these recent tragedies. Our prayers go out to the affected families and those who have lost loved ones.’
The government set up the July Memorial Foundation to help the victims of the student uprising in July last year. Last Monday, a plane crashed at Milestone College in Uttara, the capital. More than a hundred people were injured and at least 29 people were killed in the incident. This time, the BCB has extended a helping hand to them.
The third Bangladesh-Pakistan T20 will start at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur shortly.
