A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, on Monday (July 21). The Fire Service has confirmed at least one death in the incident. Rescue operations are ongoing at the scene, while panic has gripped the surrounding area.

The aircraft took off at 1:06 PM and crashed just 12 minutes later, at 1:18 PM. According to the Fire Service’s Public Relations Department, the crash was reported immediately, and rescue teams from eight fire stations — including Uttara, Tongi, Pallabi, Kurmitola, Mirpur, and Purbachal — reached the scene by 1:22 PM and began operations.

As of 3:00 PM, at least 25 people, mostly students, have been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Four others were airlifted by the Bangladesh Air Force to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), according to Fire Service control room officer Lima Khan.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the aircraft was on a training flight when it crashed. The exact cause of the crash remains unknown, and a formal investigation has begun.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and panic as the aircraft struck the educational building. Students, teachers, and local residents fled the area in fear. Law enforcement personnel have since been deployed heavily around the site to ensure security and assist in rescue operations.

At the time of filing this report, rescue efforts were still ongoing, and the full extent of the casualties and damage had yet to be confirmed.
