‘NCP wants a state system where there is a combination of many ethnic groups, languages and cultures’
National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said that the NCP wants to build a state system in which there will be a combination of many ethnic groups, languages and cultures. There will be no discrimination in the rights and dignity of all citizens. For that, a new constitution will have to be made.

Nahid Islam said this at a road meeting in Bandarban on Saturday night.
NCP leaders reached Bandarban city around 8 pm. Then the march started from the Bandarban Press Club premises. After visiting several streets of the city, the march ended at the Press Club premises. Later, at around 8:30 pm, the road meeting began there. Stating that people of many ethnicities have been living in Bangladesh for ages, NCP convener Nahid Islam said at the road meeting, “After the great liberation war of 1971, the 1972 constitution did not include all ethnic groups, but created a division of nation by nation, religion by religion, and religion by secularism. The looters have taken advantage of this division.”
The NCP convener also said that the NCP is committed to national sovereignty and state integrity. For this, all divisions will be removed and the rights and dignity of everyone will be established through dialogue and discussion.
Condemning the vandalism of the NCP road meeting stage in Chakaria, Nahid Islam said that this was done in the name of a party. An attempt is being made to bring back the undemocratic system against which there was a coup.
NCP’s southern chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah said that it was very unfortunate that the various ethnicities of the hilly region were not recognized in the past. He said that everyone was forcibly made Bengalis by not recognizing ethnicity in the Mujibist constitution. The NCP wants to eliminate that system.
Hasnat Abdullah said that the prerequisite for the national elections is the trial of fascist criminals and reform of the state system. The government should quickly complete the trial and reforms and take steps for the elections.
NCP’s chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari also spoke at the road show. The party’s Bandarban district chief coordinator Shahidur Rahman presided over the meeting.
