The protest march and rally were organized by Bangladesh Adivasi Chhatra Sangram Parishad, Parbatya Chittagong Pahari Chhatra Parishad, Hill Women’s Federation, Bangladesh Marma Students Council, Tripura Students Forum Bangladesh and Dhaka University Jumma Students’ Family. The protest rally was chaired by Shantimoy Chakma, General Secretary of Parbatya Chittagong Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP) Dhaka University branch, and presided over by Jagadish Chakma, President of the organization’s Dhaka Metropolitan branch.

Jagadish Chakma said at the rally that the rape incident in Khagrachari was not just rape, it was a conspiracy to threaten the existence of the tribals. He also said that all the rulers who have changed the course of this country through rape of tribal women, land grabbing, communal attacks and genocide have conspired to erase the existence of the tribals. The conspiracy to keep the innocent BOM population in jail and kill them without treatment in the name of suppressing the KNF for the past few years must be stopped.

Dipayan Khisa, central member of the Parbatya Chittagong Jana Sanghati Samiti, said, “Those who committed rape have a political identity. But I have not seen that political party take any action against those rapists. They are all BNP leaders and activists. I saw the smiles on the faces of the accused when the rapists were arrested. Because they know very well that the law cannot do anything to them. Law and administration are all in the hands of those settlers.”
