Last Tuesday night, Aminul Islam himself filed a case with Naogaon Sadar Police Station as the plaintiff. Along with Mamunur Rahman Ripon, seven to eight other unidentified people have been named as accused in the case.

According to the case sources, Constable Aminul was on duty in the Muktir More area of the city around 11:30 am last Monday. At that time, a procession of the district Chhatra Dal was passing through that road. At the same time, Mamunur Rahman got down from a battery-powered auto-rickshaw. When Constable Aminul asked the rickshaw driver to move away due to the traffic jam, Mamunur Rahman got angry and abused him in inaudibly and slapped Aminul Islam publicly. Seven to eight other youths with him also insulted the constable. They also threatened to expel Constable Aminul Islam from Naogaon by tagging him as Awami-Dosar. A video of the incident went viral on social media.

Aminul Islam said, “Mamunur Rahman abused me for asking the rickshaw puller to move away. He slapped me on both cheeks several times and asked where my house was. I have attached the video of the incident to the case file.”

Mamunur Rahman called Ripon’s mobile phone several times to inquire about the complaint, but it was disconnected.

Naogaon District BNP Member Secretary Bayezid Hossain said, “His (Ripon’s) behavior has tarnished the party’s image. The matter has been reported to the central leaders.”

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station Noor Alam Siddiqui said, “A case has been filed in this incident. A drive is underway to arrest the accused.”
