Farmer killed, son seriously injured in rival attack in Narail
A farmer has been hacked to death by his opponent in Lohagara upazila over a land dispute. His son was also seriously injured in the attack. The incident took place at around 11:30 am today, Wednesday, in Bahirpara village of the upazila.

The deceased Jahangir Sheikh (60) lives in Bahirpara village of Lohagara upazila. His son Nahid Sheikh was injured.
The deceased’s family alleges that Jahangir Sheikh’s family of the same village had been in a land dispute with the Kausar Sheikhs of Bahirpara village of Kashipur union of Lohagara upazila for a long time. Despite several mediation meetings in the village, no solution has been found. This morning, Jahangir went to cultivate the disputed land in Bahirpara field with his son Nahid. At that time, the people of the opponent Kausar attacked them with country-made weapons. At that time, the attackers hacked and injured Jahangir and his son. Jahangir died on the spot. Nahid was rescued in a serious condition and was first taken to Narail Sadar Hospital. Later, he was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. On the other hand, local people said that one of Kausar’s supporters was injured. However, no detailed information was known about him. Since Kausar Sheikh and his family members have gone into hiding since the incident, it was not possible to take any statement from their side. Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shariful Islam, who visited the scene in the afternoon, said that there was a dispute between the two parties over land. When one party went to work on the land, the other party attacked. People from both sides were injured in this. A farmer named Jahangir was killed on the spot. His body was recovered and sent to Narail Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
The OC also said that a drive is underway to arrest everyone involved in the incident. Additional police have been deployed in the area.
