Land depression, heavy rain forecast in two divisions
After almost three days of heat wave, rain has increased in various parts of the country since yesterday Monday. The Meteorological Department says that this is due to the low pressure in the sea. It turned into a land depression yesterday afternoon. During this time, it rained almost everywhere in the country. Of these, the Meteorological Office recorded the highest rainfall of 143 millimeters in Jessore. The capital also received 16 millimeters of rain in the last 24 hours.
Meteorologist of the Meteorological Department Md. Omar Faruk told Prothom Alo today that the land depression is located towards the southern part of West Bengal in India. And due to this, heavy to very heavy rain may occur in Khulna and Rajshahi divisions of Bangladesh today.
Today, the Meteorological Department has also issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in these two divisions. It has been said that due to the activity of the monsoon winds, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in some places in these two divisions.
If the rainfall is between 44 and 88 millimeters, it is heavy rain. And if it is more than 88 millimeters, it is very heavy rain.
However, the low pressure area may weaken this afternoon, according to Meteorological Department sources. As a result, the rainfall may decrease slightly from tomorrow, said Omar Faruk. He said, although there is a possibility of a slight decrease in the rainfall from tomorrow, Wednesday, it will not decrease completely. There will be moderate rain until next Friday. However, the rainfall may decrease for at least the next three days from next Saturday. After that, it may rain again.
It rained a few times in the capital today in the morning. The sky was cloudy at the time of writing this report around 12 noon. Omar Faruk said, there is a possibility of more rain in the capital today due to the effect of heavy rainfall in Khulna and Rajshahi.
