Two NCP leaders file counter-GDs at Khagrachhari police station

The two NCP office-bearers are Manjila Sultana, the organizer of the southern region and Khagrachhari Zilla Parishad member, and Md. Russell Sheikh, the chief coordinator of the Guimara Upazila branch and joint coordinator of the Khagrachhari district branch.
According to the organization’s Khagrachhari district sources, Russell Sheikh held a press conference at the Khagrachhari Press Club hall on Saturday, alleging irregularities and corruption against Manjila Sultana. Later that day, Manjila filed a GD against Russell at the Sadar Police Station, stating that she was trying to defame him with baseless and false information. The next day, Russell filed a counter-general GD against Manjila, stating that she was suffering from insecurity.
At the press conference, Russell alleged that Manjila Sultana has been committing various irregularities by discrediting the name of NCP for a long time. Recently, she has embezzled the dividends of the leased shares of Guimara Bazar under the control of the market fund under the Hill District Council. She has embezzled money from the Hill District Council by taking 1 crore 60 lakh taka of work and 15 metric tons of food grains, including various projects, in her own name.
After these allegations, Manjila filed a GD with the police station. In it, she mentioned that Russell had posted about Manjila on social media on Facebook on Saturday morning. He made several negative comments in the post. After that, Manjila also alleged that ugly, derogatory and defamatory posts were made from various Facebook IDs.
When asked, Manjila Sultana told Prothom Alo, “A few people are conspiring against me so that NCP cannot survive here. All the allegations made against me are baseless, false and fabricated. I am now suffering from insecurity. That’s why I filed a GD.’
Russell Sheikh told Prothom Alo, ‘I have been receiving various threats since I held a press conference against Manjila Sultana. I am suffering from insecurity due to this incident. That is why I filed a GD.’
When asked about the GD, Abdul Baten Mridha, officer-in-charge of Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station, told Prothom Alo that the next steps will be taken after investigating the two GDs.
