Cena becomes ‘King’ of Wimbledon after defeating Alcaraz
Not more than 35 days ago, the two wrote an epic five-set epic in about five and a half hours in the French Open final. Many were hoping to see something similar at Wimbledon. But Yannick Cinard did not let that happen, settling the men’s singles final in four sets.

Carlos Alcaraz was smiling on the other side of the court after winning the first set in the confrontation between the two greatest stars of the time. But Cinard’s great play in the next three sets erased it. Cinard won his first Wimbledon title by defeating Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. This is the fourth Grand Slam title in the career of the top Italian seed. The loss deprived second seed Alcaraz of the chance to win his third Wimbledon in a row.
Alcaraz came back to win after losing the first two sets at the French Open. Cinard took revenge by winning three sets in a row despite falling behind. The 23-year-old star is now the first Italian to win the Wimbledon singles title. Alcaraz entered Center Court with the confidence of winning 20 consecutive matches at the All England Club. However, his last loss at Wimbledon was against Sinner, in the fourth round in 2022. This time too, Sinner, keeping the result the same, put both hands on his white cap on his head in a gesture of disbelief in joy of winning the title. He greeted the audience with the courtesy of shaking hands with Alcaraz.

Alcaraz and Sinner shared the last seven Grand Slam titles, including Wimbledon. Thanking the Spanish star, who has become a perennial rival, Cinnar said, “Thank you for being the player you are. It’s very difficult to play with you. But we have a very good relationship off the court too… You will lift this trophy many times.”
