The bus owners of Shariatpur Super Service Company have accused Jubo Dal leader Mushfiqur and his people of extortion. They alleged that he had not been allowing any of the company’s buses to go to Jatrabari in Dhaka since last Wednesday. In protest against this, a protest and human chain were formed by blocking the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in front of the toll plaza at the Jajira end of the Padma Bridge yesterday afternoon.

After this incident, Mushfiqur Rahman was expelled from all positions in Jubo Dal. The bus owners said that yesterday afternoon, members of the law enforcement agencies went to Jatrabari and chased away Mushfiqur’s people. After that, the buses of Shariatpur started plying in Jatrabari. Currently, their transports do not have to pay extortion to Jatrabari. Shariatpur Police Superintendent Nazrul Islam told Prothom Alo that an extortion case was filed against Mushfiqur Rahman and 25 of his associates at Jatrabari Police Station last night. He used to use the identity of a political party to exert influence. He has been expelled from that party. Shariatpur transports no longer have to pay extortion to ply in Dhaka.
