BSF pushes 10 Bangladeshis through Sherpur border

The BSF has pushed 10 people, including women and children, into Bangladesh through the Panihata border in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur. Members of the BGB Ramchandrakura camp arrested them from pillar number 1,118 of the Panihata border in the upazila around 6 am today, Friday.

All the detainees are residents of Shahjadpur village in Tala upazila of Satkhira.

Police and BGB sources said that two years ago, they went to Faridabad, Delhi, India illegally for medical treatment. Later, they started working there as laborers. Recently, local people handed them over to the Indian police. Later, the police handed them over to the BSF. Later, the BSF sent them back to Bangladesh through the Panihata border this morning. Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan, commander of BGB 39 Battalion, said that the BGB has arrested 10 people who were pushed from India and handed them over to the Nalitabari police station.

Nalitabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sohel Rana said that the process of handing over the custody of the detained persons to their guardians is underway as per government instructions.
