The time of silence at the government level with neighboring countries is over: Rizwana Hasan in Feni

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forests, Climate Change and Water Resources, said, “Time is up. If there was any silence or inaction at the government level, that day is over.”

The advisor said this while inspecting the Ballarmukh Dam on the border in her Kalikapur area of Mirzanagar Union, Parshuram, Feni, adjacent to the Indian border, on Sunday morning.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that initiatives will be taken to solve this problem of the people, saying, “River water is not just politics, it is also diplomacy and economics. I have come to see the problem through the people’s glasses. I have come to know from the people what solution they want. The local people have said that they have been severely affected by the floods because the neighboring country cut the dam.”

The water resources advisor also said, “If the neighboring country had been informed about where the dams are in the rivers and how much water they would release, the floods might not have been prevented, but the damage could have been reduced. The local people said that they have suffered losses due to the cutting of a dam by a neighboring country. We need to sit with them. For that, we need to know the extent of the damage. You can’t write a letter without knowing the extent of the damage. Rizwana Hasan said, “The work of determining the extent of the damage is almost over. We will sit with the affected people, what solutions they want, whether there is anything to be done urgently, whether something can be done in the medium term, we will have to make a project on this.”

At that time, Feni Deputy Commissioner Musammat Shahina Akhter, Superintendent of Police Habibur Rahman and other government officials were present along with the Water Resources Advisor.
