The girl’s father has filed a written complaint with the Sripur police station on Sunday afternoon. The complaint states that the incident took place at around 10:30 am inside an ATM booth next to a factory in Mulaid village of the upazila.
Accused Md. Liton Mia is a tenant of Atabuddin Musa’s house in Mulaid village of Sripur upazila. The address of his village house could not be known. He has been absconding since the incident. The victim girl’s home is in Kalmakanda, Netrokona district. She lives with her parents in a rented house in a village in Sripur.

The girl’s father told Prothom Alo on his mobile phone that he used to come and go to the ATM booth regularly to withdraw money. At one stage, he met security guard Md. Liton. His daughter works for a low-wage job in a spinning factory. Upon learning of the matter, Liton assured her of a well-paid job in another factory. After receiving the assurance, he went to the booth with his daughter on Sunday.
The girl’s father also said that after going to the booth, Liton Mia took his daughter to a small room inside the booth. He kept her waiting, saying that an official from another factory would come there in a while. At one point, Liton Mia asked the girl to wait for a while longer and told her father to go home. The girl’s father left from there. After a while, he came to get the news and saw his daughter coming out of the booth crying. Later, when he took the girl home, he told her mother about the rape.
The statement of the accused Md. Liton Mia could not be obtained in this regard as he is absconding.
Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Barik told Prothom Alo, “That security guard is absconding. We are trying to bring him under the law. The case is under process in this incident.”
