Those who have violated large-scale limits will be treated differently: NBR Chairman
He told reporters after visiting Dhaka Customs House on Monday. He said this in connection with the retirement, dismissal, transfer, etc. after the recent NBR movement.
The NBR Chairman also said, ‘I have come here (Dhaka Customs House) to give fear. If everyone behaves responsibly and does their job properly, then I don’t think they have any reason to fear. Those who have violated the limits on a very large scale will be treated differently.’
In response to a question from reporters regarding the retirement, transfer, and dismissal of several officials after the withdrawal of the movement, he said, ‘It is the government’s policy decision to take action against the officials. Those few did not protest, many did. Action has not been taken against everyone.’
Last week, the ACC launched an investigation against 16 officials, including two members of the NBR. Most of them were involved in the movement. So far, three members and one commissioner have been sent on compulsory retirement since the movement was withdrawn. The commissioner of the Chittagong Customs House was temporarily suspended for stopping work. The NBR chairman said that a revenue of Tk 3,68,177 crore was collected in the outgoing fiscal year. He said that the final amount will increase slightly.
