38 bank accounts of former Air Force Chief Abdul Hannan, his wife and son frozen
The former chief of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, his wife Tahmida Begum and son Sheikh Labib Hannan have been ordered to freeze 38 bank accounts.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Senior Special Judge’s Court Judge Md. Zakir Hossain gave the order on Saturday.
The court gave the order in response to an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). ACC Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam confirmed the matter.
ACC Deputy Director Md. Tanzir Hasib Sarkar filed an application seeking an order to freeze their bank accounts.
According to the application, an order has been issued to freeze 5 bank accounts of Sheikh Abdul Hannan, 32 of his Tahmida Begum and one of his son Sheikh Labib Hannan. According to the application, the three have a total of 1 crore 18 lakh 34 thousand 222 taka in 38 banks.
The ACC application states that there are allegations of abuse of power, loss of state funds, bribery, recruitment, trade, various irregularities and corruption against former Air Force Chief Sheikh Abdul Hannan. Through these activities, he and his family members have acquired a huge amount of illegal wealth and laundered money abroad. The ACC is investigating these allegations against him.
The ACC has learned from reliable sources that they can transfer and transfer this illegally earned money at any time. An order to freeze these movable assets is necessary to properly investigate the allegations against them.
