BUET Vice Chancellor becomes Fellow of Bangladesh Science Academy
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Vice Chancellor ABM Badruzzaman has been elected a Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (Bangladesh Science Academy), the apex organization of scientists and technologists.

The BUET Vice Chancellor was declared a Fellow at the 16th Council meeting of the Academy on May 18. The matter was announced in a press release sent by the BUET Public Relations Office on Tuesday. The release said that this prestigious honor recognizes the significant contribution of BUET Vice Chancellor ABM Badruzzaman to engineering and his engineering and scientific talent in Bangladesh and abroad. His visionary leadership and advice in scientific and engineering research have not only enriched engineering, but also inspired a new generation of researchers to start their search for knowledge and discovery. In 1992, ABM Badruzzaman earned a PhD degree from the University of Virginia, USA. His research topic was environmental science. He researched on arsenic contamination, solid waste management, surface and groundwater quality modeling, environmental management systems, heavy metal speciation, transportation, etc. He received the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Award in 2012 for his special contribution to the modeling of arsenic contamination and prevention of groundwater. In 2019, he received the ITEX Gold Medal awarded by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society. In addition, he has a significant number of publications in scientific journals.
