Former Jessore University of Technology Vice Chancellor Abdus Sattar in jail in ACC case
Abdus Sattar appeared on the scheduled date of the case on Monday and applied for bail. The judge rejected the bail and ordered him to be sent to jail. However, the other two accused in the case, Deputy Director (Planning and Development) of the university Abdur Rauf and former Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University Kamal Uddin, are out on bail. Earlier, the court issued a warrant for the arrest of these three accused.
Vice-Chancellor Abdus Sattar was the president of the board. Another member of the selection board was Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University Kamal Uddin. The oral examination was conducted on August 22 of the same year. At this time, three more candidates were given oral examinations. But none of them passed. Despite Abdur Rauf having no prior experience as a Planning and Development Officer as per the conditions of the notification, the selection board illegally tried to appoint him as an Assistant Director first. Later, considering the lack of experience, he was recommended for appointment as a Section Officer (Grade-1, Planning and Development). Former Vice-Chancellor Abdus Sattar, as the President of the Board of Regents, took the final decision to appoint him as a Section Officer without an open notification.
