BNP will accept PM’s term proposal if NCC-like councils are ruled out
The BNP will accept the proposal put forward by the National Consensus Commission that a person can serve as the Prime Minister for a maximum of 10 years in his life, excluding the idea of a National Constitutional Council (NCC) or any such board. BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed expressed this position at the end of the sixth day of the discussion of the second round of the National Consensus Commission with political parties on Wednesday.

After today’s discussion at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital, Salahuddin Ahmed told reporters, “If there is any other body like the NCC that obstructs or interferes with the activities of the executive power or if there is such a system, we will not accept that proposal. If there is a system like the NCC, we will remain in the previous situation (we will not accept anyone’s prime ministerial term of 10 years). ”
BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed commented that a fair government or state administration is never possible by simply reducing the power of the executive branch everywhere without strengthening constitutional institutions. He said, “If we can ensure freedom of the press, if we can strengthen the ACC and other related institutions, they will act as a safeguard for democracy here. Without these institutions, democracy will never be strong.”
