65 more people infected with dengue in Daudkandi in 24 hours

The dengue outbreak is increasing in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla. In the last 24 hours (from 10 am on Sunday to 10 am on Monday), 65 new dengue cases have been reported in the upazila.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Habibur Rahman said that three of the new cases are admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. One seriously ill person has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

During this period, blood tests of 325 patients were conducted in government and private hospitals. According to the Upazila Health Department, a total of 11,708 blood tests were conducted from June 18 to July 14 between 10 am. Out of these, 3,294 were diagnosed with dengue. 46 patients were sent to Dhaka Medical College in critical condition. 10 of them have died.

Parents are worried as students of various schools and colleges in the upazila are suffering from dengue. Many are unable to go to school due to fever.

According to the Health Department, dengue was first detected in Donarchar village of Daudkandi municipality. A resident of that village died of dengue. Since then, dengue has gradually spread throughout the upazila.
