The letter states that the central government is conducting ‘Operation Kagar’ to suppress Maoists in the state of Chhattisgarh. Through this, Maoist leaders and activists are being killed indiscriminately. These killings must be stopped immediately. Several top Maoist leaders have been arrested and kept in the custody of the security forces. The detainees should be produced in court immediately. They should be tried according to the law.

The letter from the five Left parties states that the normal life of the tribals of the region has been disrupted after the security forces launched an operation in the name of suppressing Maoists.

The central government and the BJP-led state government of Chhattisgarh have not heeded the Left’s plea. ‘Operation Kagar’ continues.

Earlier, India’s Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said several times, ‘India will be made Maoist-free by March 2026.’ With that aim, the central government has launched a strong operation in the Maoist-dominated state of Chhattisgarh. Apart from Chhattisgarh, Maoists also have influence in the Indian states of Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
